FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Richmond, CA. (January 20, 2007). The national office announced today the reintroduction of the famed 12 Hours of Thunderhill Raceway. This race will…
…take place on December 1st, 2007 at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. The event will be the last points race in the Western Endurance Racing Championship. Teams will score double points, per the Endurance Racing rules, making this event a major factor in deciding the championship for each class.
“The format is simple,” commented Jerry Kunzman, Nor Cal Regional Director. “The race will start in conjunction with the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. At the 12-hour mark, we will throw a checkered flag signaling the end of the 12-hour race. Those teams competing in the 25-hour race will just continue.”
“We are very excited to bring this race back after leaving it off the schedule in 2004 and 2005,” stated Ryan Flaherty, So Cal Regional Director. “We ran this race at Thunderhill for many years. In 2003 it was combined with the 25 Hours of Thunderhill race, which saw 77 teams enter. We are hoping to rekindle that enthusiasm this year.”
The 12 Hours of Thunderhill will go green at 11am on Saturday morning and run until 11pm. More information, including supplemental rules will be posted www.nasa25hour.com
